The Old Smithy at Manchester Road was a structurally sound period property with limited accommodation. Combining the house with its large double garage provided the ideal opportunity for an ambitious extension and remodelling project.
The design adopted for the conversion was to remake the garage as a new lounge, then build a new extension to create a double height kitchen and dining area. This large new interior space was in turn linked to the original house with an impressive entrance hall.
With kitchen, lounge and dining room now moved out of the existing house, the design was completed by converting the original home into a spacious bedroom block with four bedrooms and en-suite.
Francis of M&J Design was the architect for this successful residential extension project; the interior design and external landscaping for the new and existing parts of the conversion was carried out by Shona.
