Over the years we have been involved in various interior design modifications to the house at Ridge Farm, but the idea of converting this period blue brick barn to form a contemporary living space had been the client’s goal for some time.
The farm is located close to the Peak District National Park, so the external elevations of the barn conversion have been modified sparingly to keep the vernacular feel intact. However, the interior architecture with its combination of high ceilings, subterranean levels and the client’s enthusiasm to create something different and dramatic made this a fabulous project to be involved in.
The environmental credentials of the conversion include air source heating and a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, reducing the carbon footprint without compromising levels of comfort.
